I’m interested in knowing what did the Pope gift back to his highness in exchange for this valuable gift (which I personally think was too valuable to give to someone who doesn’t believe in it)
I guess it is needed now more than ever before…
…am hoping it eventually seeps down to the grassroots too.

it’s my opinion
giving something that valuable to the pope would mean a lot .. it’s not like any book that talk about Islam .. u think he did not learn about Islam among other religions during his studies before becoming a pope? and of course the reason for this is not to “yahdeeh lel islam” !
I’m not in position to say if this is ok or if it is not, but I think it’s a nice gesture. there is a mosque in the Vatican, the holy city of Christianity, while there are no churches in the KSA and many other Islamic countries. it won’t make us any less Muslims if we allowed non-Muslim ppl to practice their religion, nor giving an ancient Quran to the pope 😉

Religion is a very sensitive matter, and I do respect people’s views and opinions no matter what they are, but I can’t help but notice that people seemed to disregard that Christians also practice ablution, and I highly doubt that the Pope has some hygiene problems.
Our religions are very similar, they fast, pray etc
So the question is, are ALL Muslims who pick up the Holy Qoran cleaner than the pope? (inside and out?:))

OK guys, since some here are interpreting the Quran or translate it… let’s see two opinions of a salafi scholar (ibn Othaimeen) and a sufi mentor (ibn Arabi). It’s not that I agree with them and disagree with you… but I want to show you that it’s much more simple than what you think, especially when two people from opposite views of islam agree on something… they rarely do.

Though cosmetic for the most part, it is a step in the right direction. We need to see even greater inter-faith dialogue happening
today not less. Jews, Sikhs, Hindus and Buddhists should sit across the table with Muslims, Christians and agnostics in a room full of people exchanging notes and maybe vows and much more, or vice-versa. Cheeky cheeky, I know! 🙂
There’s no two ways about it. We shall all have to see eye to eye setting aside our irreconcilable differences, if want to make it work for our planet. For starters, the Shankaracharya in Srinagar should take the first step of gifting the Grand Mufti of Azhar Mosque a copy of the Bhagavad Gita (translated in Arabic) in exchange of a copy of the Holy Koran (translated in Sanskrit).
PS : As a schoolboy growing up in the 80s I would fantasise about Pope John Paul – II and going to meet him at the Vatican someday in order to fondle his holiness. Have I committed a thought crime here?
Doesn’t mean nothing,if shek he think a bout invite him to Islam,Better to give him a copy of the translation in his language!!!
Even the Quran in arabic to him it is just wasting it,and better that old Quran stay in the muslim land,
the fact is he doesn’t believe!!!so no matter even you give him 100 Quran,they refuse to debate with many muslim Scholar before!!!!..
i don t see why the muslims try to please the pope all the times and they get insults in return. do they think the pope cares about the gift, it is just another gift stuffed in a safe somewhere in the vatican.
