The Chronicles of Dathra by Dandemra

I’m so excited that Danderma finally took the first step into publishing her “Yawmyat Wa7da Dathra“. I really wanna see them turn into Ramadani TV Series for their originality (and funny story telling) unlike the @$#%$@ we usually see in some series (with all due respect)!

Anyways… she is asking on here blog about picking a day for the book signing (link)

She is thinking at around 7:00PM on: Thursday night, Friday Night, or Wednesday Night.

Starbucks-ing!

Shayma, my friend’s status on Facebook -about a couple of days back- reads:

“Starbucks officially lost a 2 time daily customer!!!!! The new fraps taste like crap!! Switching to Coffee Bean frozen coffee!

Need to locate all Coffee Bean stores in K Town lool!!”

Another friend, Ahmed, sent me a message via BBM saying

“I’m not happy with Starbucks new skimmed milk. They are using Safi’s long life low fat milk which is 1 percent fat, so I think its heavier than Nada’s milk, and it tasted weird. They used to use Nada before”

Its interesting to get those messages at around the same time… which confirms that something went wrong with their coffee (or milk?)

Now I’m not a heavy coffee drinker! I’m not addicted to caffeine either! However, I do enjoy my cup of black coffee (Americano) almost daily. I do indulge in a single espresso, plain Turkish, or medium French coffee sometimes… yet I wont make a fuss if I dont have my daily intake of it at one point in time! I also like to have a latte every now and then 😉

As for Starbucks? I do not usually enjoy their coffees! They taste a bit watery for my taste… as for their food items? Hmmm I liked them the most back in 2002/3 when they had one of my favorite sandwiches at the time; Shaved Chicken, which is made of sun dried tomato bread, shaved chicken and black olives! It was AMAZING! I cannot find a replacement for such sandwich!

I was also talking with Farah, a friend, last week who told me that cafe’s barista do make a HUGE difference! She is like

“I do not like Starbucks either, but the branch at Baitak Tower is different! Their barista make an amazing coffee drinks there”

Worth checking out I guess 😉

My cousin Noufa K. told me

“God! A lot of people are complaining about Starbucks running out of White Moccha. Its been a while I know, and I love it as well.. but I have my own new mix that I make, I ask for vanilla latte and extra shot of hazelnut topped with cream  and caramel on top – which kinda makes up for it ;-)”

The Red Car On The Roof!

What’s the story behind this car on top of the house roof in Qadsiya? Anyone knows???

And is it true that there is another car, a blue one, in Nuzha? Also on the roof??

Digestive Comfort or Money Back?

As I was drinking Activia Laban I noticed the bottle read “Digestive Comfort or Money Back?”

Now do they actually live to that promise? And if yes, where do we get the money back from? The grocery store we bought the drink from or the mother company?

Don’t get me wrong! I have no problem with the drink itself… I just raised the issue because my cousin once saw one of those “As Seen On TV” ad in the classified section of the newspaper about a certain product… promising your money back if not satisfied. When he called them up and asked if they would actually return his money if it didn’t work for him, their answer was “No! Sorry, we can’t guarantee that”

What’s your take on this issue???

I miss Color Me Mine! As a matter of fact, I want to go at the very first given opportunity 😛 Yes! I become a child at heart when I am there… I sometimes go alone just to color and have a quality time with me, myself, and I 😉

I am planning to do more of plates to be used at home, like the ones I posted about before (link) and the one below 😉

Nexium & Naxiprazol – UPDATE

Not too long ago, I posted about taking Naxiprazol instead of Nexium (link)!

I asked a couple of pharmacists and few doctors (from both; Government and Private Health Sectors) about it… turn out it was okay to take it!

As a matter of fact, Kuwait is known for higher prices in medications worldwide! I did not mean in anyway to show that I do not care about my health and that I wont pay more to get the real thing… if its really “the real thing”

So according to the doctors I asked, I can continue taking it… if you are planning to do so, check with your doctors too 😉

Nexium Vs. Naxiprazol

A while back, I was prescribed to take Nexium

14, 20mg, tablets that sells somewhere between KD7.500 -8.500

While I was in Syria I realized that I had forgotten to bring in a new box, and was left with a couple of tablets only for a 12-days period. I headed to one of their local pharmacies and was given the Syrian version of Nexium, which is called Naxiprazol

20, 20mg, tablets that sells for SYP110 (which is close to  600 fils!!!!)

He said the foreign make of the same medicine is SYP800 (around KD4.600) which is like half the price of the one in Kuwait!!!

After I tried it for few days, same effect and no problem, I went ahead and got few boxes with me back home. Question is, is it really the same? Should I take it with me on my next doctor visit and ask? I have no complaints so far! I am just questioning the price difference!!

Oh and I like the fact that the prices are PRINTED on the boxes of their medications so its fixed all over the city 😉
