I was invited by Carluccio’s to attend their first Cookery Showcase in Kuwait at The Avenues yesterday 😉
The day started with a breakfast for everyone, which I missed -I had to run few errands early in the morning before going! I arrived at around 10:30AM, a couple of minutes or so before Chef Giulio Brignola arrived.
The cookery showcase was quite interesting, having him not just giving out recipes.. but talking about cooking in general, tips, health tips, and how food in Italy is different in each region, with influence of the Ottomans back in time!
The show was interactive, he cooked while answering different questions from the audience

The panzerotti was a mini pastry stuffed with mozzarella and cherry tomato. The dough of which was super soft, light, and yummy!
The caponata was my favorite! This dish is just amazing! The mixture of ingredients plays a number on your taste buds! Its a bit of everything; tangy, sweet, mushy…. it was amazing!
The last one -Pizza di Patate- was my least favorite, not because it wasnt good… but because of the anchovies! I loved everything else in it, though when I try to make my own version, I will substitue’em with mushrooms 😉
Each participant was given a goody bag on the way out with yummies from Carluccio’s
We were also given the recipes for the dishes we made, except for the caponata, which was given to us canned 😀

Few days back, the proteges visited Chef Adla AlSharhan’s Umami Culinary Consulting & School in Khaldiya.
They were divided into two teams; the Blue and Red teams! They started of with learning basic info about cooking, food, safety, and so
So each team must come up with a concept restaurant, work on a budget, create a menu, pick a location, do finances, and actually COOK food for a judging panel… Mentor Shamlan involved me in when I though I was there just to cover up the story… and boy oh boy, let me tell you this… THE STUDENTS WERE AMAZING!!! So lets see how it worked out… shall we?
Chef Adla AlSharhan was to mentor the student and help them in the overall cooking process, giving them suggestions and helping them out…

While shopping at Sultan Center yesterday I saw nonstick silicone baking molds, Fauchon brand!
Cool! We usually get such mold from abroad, so its nice to see that they’re available in Kuwait 😉
