Breakfast!

I woke up really early yesterday – I was in Kuwait City to take pictures for a client early in the morning! I passed by the grocery store, our local coop, to get some stuff….. so by the time I got back home it was around 8:00AM… I decided to prepare breakfast for dad and I, since I was home alone with him ๐Ÿ˜‰

My aunt sent us Girs Egaili (ู‚ุฑุต ุนู‚ูŠู„ูŠ) the other day – a traditional Kuwaiti cake… It was the trigger to prepare such breakfast actually, what goes well with it… and I went from there ๐Ÿ˜‰ So I added Darabeel (ุฏุฑุงุจูŠู„) or what I call, Kuwaiti dry cinnamon rolls ๐Ÿ˜‰ and I sliced a multi-grain French bread….

Darabeel goes well with hot Continue reading

Ansam Burger at Burger Hub

While preparing for my blog competition, which I will be posting about SOON today, The Burger Hub Team suggested I pass by and name a burger after me ๐Ÿ˜‰

I went with my sister Anfal at around 7:00PM! Yes, I picked a time where I can have the freedom of taking pictures.. the place was kind of empty, but was getting more crowded by the time we left, so good ๐Ÿ˜‰

As we got seated… the staff were expecting us, and one by one came by to wish me an Continue reading

LAZRUD

I passed by LAZURD with my friend Amna S. a couple of weeks ago and was in love with the store… the display, the staff! I mean everything was nicely presented and the staff members although busy with customers, they were all smiles…

They invited me to come back again at a less crowded time to be able to pictures freely and taste as many items as much as I want. So we went back again, and this time the chef was there to greet us ๐Ÿ˜‰

At first we were greeted with a mini cup of some sort of a blueberry shot drinks ๐Ÿ˜‰

Then we took the tour inside the store… which is really small, but very nicely arranged… The chef was around to explain each of the items on display with the fabulous Myriam… So lets take the virtual tour inside the store now, shall we?

The store is decorated Continue reading

Souq Albuzooriyah – Syria

On my second day in Damascus (last February) I had the grand tour with a local! My friend Sandra was going out of town and she arranged a day trip for me in Old Damascus alleyways with her driver…ย He is actually from Old Damascus… he knows the alleyways really well – lucky me to have someone like Sandra who arranged for it all AND for Mohammed, my amazing tour guide for taking the time to take me to this tour in the old city – I had a great time that day!

He picked me up from the hotel! We headed to Old Damascus, parked the car outside The Khan (click here, here, and here for a full review of The Khan), and we walked around in the alleys!

We started of with Souk Albuzooriyah (ุณูˆู‚ ุงู„ุจุฒูˆุฑูŠุฉ) – a famous historical market located to the south of Umayyad Mosque. The souq is consisted of different vendors selling all kinds of spices, herbs, herbal medications, handmade soaps, dried fruit, candies, coffees, and much much more!

During my two weeks stay I have visited this market numerous times snapping different pictures each time I go

So it is basically a post FULL of pictures… and as the saying goes; “A picture is worth a thousand words” so let me take you into a Continue reading

Chocolateness – The Shop!

Last week I met with the fantabulous team behind Chocolatness… The team that has been spoiling me and surprising me many many times with my favorite chocolate molten cake in K-Town! This is coming from me… and I am not a chocolate cake person, but this cake is something else ๐Ÿ˜‰

We had a very nice talk all of us in their soon to be opened shop in Burj Jassem… we talked about the project itself and more! You guys are amazing and you are doing an amazing job! Towards the end, and before I left I was given a box of yummies!!!

It contained four different flavors; my favorite flavor, chocolate of course and my second favorite (very close to the chocolate one) is peanut butter, cinnamon, and caramel… which I came to know that the latter is made with high quality ingredients (cost them the most to make)

I remember tasting it for the very first time in a car boot sale with Rakan saying “Try the best molten cake in Town ya Ansam”… thats when I turned my head, walked toward their mini oven at the time and got hooked to thisย devilish cake served with their signature wooden spoon!ย That first bite was an unforgettableย moment!

They told me of how their story started… how they used to take the calls and delivering orders themselves!

Wishing you guys the best and waiting for your official opening of the shop!

Can I Survive a Week on KD1 Per Day?

I am going to go grocery shopping with KD7 only to spend, less if I can, to buy groceries that will feed me for a week!

This is a new project I am doing! Something that is good for the soul… and to feel for the poor! So let’s see how this one will go!

I will be posting daily journal about my experience ๐Ÿ˜€

Let’s see how this one will go now ๐Ÿ˜‰

Carluccio’s Cookery Showcase

I was invited by Carluccio’s to attend their first Cookery Showcase in Kuwait at The Avenues yesterday ๐Ÿ˜‰

The day started with a breakfast for everyone, which I missed -I had to run few errands early in the morning before going! I arrived at around 10:30AM, a couple of minutes or so before Chefย Giulio Brignola arrived.

The cookery showcase was quite interesting, having him not just giving out recipes.. but talking about cooking in general, tips, health tips, and how food in Italy is different in each region, with influence of the Ottomans back in time!

The show was interactive, he cooked while answering different questions from the audience

He prepared panzerotti

Panzerotti

Eggplant caponata

Eggplant Caponata

And pizza di patate

Pizza di Patate

The panzerotti was a mini pastry stuffed with mozzarella and cherry tomato. The dough of which was super soft, light, and yummy!

The caponata was my favorite! This dish is just amazing! The mixture of ingredients plays a number on your taste buds! Its a bit of everything; tangy, sweet, mushy…. it was amazing!

The last one -Pizza di Patate- was my least favorite, not because it wasnt good… ย but because of the anchovies! I loved everything else in it, though when I try to make my own version, I will substitue’em with mushrooms ๐Ÿ˜‰

Each participant was given a goody bag on the way out with yummies from Carluccio’s

We were also given the recipes for the dishes we made, except for the caponata, which was given to us canned ๐Ÿ˜€

Thank you Carluccio’s for the very yummy experience, I look forward to dine in soon! Special thanks to Mr. Khalid Khader ๐Ÿ˜‰
