Falafel King

After a long walk and shopping around Portobello Road Market, we stopped at Falafel King for a quick bite

A place my dad loves and recommended we stop by… also, thanks to my sister Anfal’s pic, who was in London earlier!

Okay so I am standing there in line waiting to place my order with very high expectations! So this is how they prepare the sandwich… They only serve falafel 😉 First they fry their falafel right after you place the order to ensure freshness. You place your order and pick your toppings/condiments displayed right in front of you, then pay and leave….. everything looks so GOOD

Gotta love their painted signs and atmosphere!

You will also be given a lemonade with every sandwich you order, all for the price of GBP5

They take a pita bread and open a small pocket on top, drop the falafel balls in it along with your toppings. I ordered mine with tahini, sprinkle of green chili sauce, and pickles

Lulu ordered hers with salad, tahini, and pickles

Those are one of the best Falafel I have ever tried in London…. if not the best! Honestly!  So good and fresh and yummy and fresh… did I say fresh twice? Yeah its just deep fried balls of yumminess hehehehe! Everything was made fresh to order which is just great…. oh and the lemonade addition is just fabulous!

My only negative remark would be their attitude! They take the orders and walk away… no smiles at all! A guy comes in and orders falafel sandwich and when asked about the toppings, he wanted mayo… the lady there gave him a smirk. He was so angry and yelled at her! Okay so we’re not used to hear falafel and mayo in one sentence, but its just about preferences… right? Why the attitude? And even worse, when he asked her what was she laughing about she told him that no one order falafel with mayo and she personally think its a bad choice! LOL whats her problem? 😛

Falafel King is located on 274 Portobello Road in Notting Hill. There is no seating inside the restaurant, its mostly take-away orders… but there is a small seating area just outside of it. It was SO COLD to sit out and eat those sandwiches but it was SO worth it!

Speaking of Falafel… I remember there was another place in the area selling falafel wraps… Mr. Falafel, or Falafel Guy or something… any idea? Their sandwiches are also GOOD if my memory serves me right 😛

  3. God that looks amazing. I’ve heard of this place too.

  4. You went all the way to ol’ Blighty and had Felafel?
What about some bangers and mash or steak and kidney pie? 😀
Damn! now I’m craving some pub grub 😦

  5. The box lunch includes a greek salad a gyro chicken gyro or falafel sandwich a drink and baklava. I find the falafel a bit dry but I have to admit that when you add the tahini sauce the whole sandwich works pretty well. There s something about hummus and baba ganouj over falafel on a pita that I can t seem to get sick of.

  8. When I order falfil here in Kuwait, I always keep my May-chilli sauce next to it coz I just love to dip my sandwich in the sauce and Oh my it tastes just amazing. I thought it was as fine to have falafil with Mayo as falafil with Tahini, until now :p:p hehe.
