My friend, Noon, and I were up last Friday… and through facebook status updates we decided to go check out the new restaurant Ryoog, the one I spotted with the sign “Opening Soon” a couple of weeks back!
Anywho…. We got there at around 10:05am! The restaurant setting was so inviting… a patio area on grass with tables, and the restaurant itself next to the cashier, in what I explained to Noon as very cozy… in a way it made me feel that I am sitting in one of the houses on Wisteria Lane of Desperate Housewives! Loved it ๐
Given the fact that the restaurant is new, it was fully packed with customers so we opted for a table out. We were baking and waiting… and waiting! No body came in to take our orders and we were starving!! At around 10:20 we decided we want to wait for a table inside, and boy that took around 30 mins, but we really wanted to try out the place so we waited. A nice guy pointed five minutes to me a couple of times… but it sure took longer than that… anyways, it was 10:50 when we were called in for our table
Very simple very French country very cozy! The menus are actually your table mats with lots of appetizing pictures. Orders were taken at around 11:05 (an hour after our arrival and 15 minutes after we were seated). No problem… we really wanted to have Ryoog (which actually turned from breakfast to brunch).
Noon’s order, American Breakfast was on the table by 11:15…. our coffee/juice were not on the table by then… not even silverware or napkins.
Oh here it is my coffeeeeee โค
I look around and I see lots of faces and lots of expressions… people happy enjoying their yummy food, others were upset because of the delay in taking orders… few customers were upset that they left, but we didnt… again, we really wanted to try their food! Noon’s food was already on the table… mine wasnt. She asked me to share some of the bread and jam/butter… the toast was too hard, TOO HARD! But I loved the presentation…
At 11:20… still, no food for me, no napkins… but here they are, and with silverware… we asked for Salt & Pepper.. there were no salt & pepper on the tables. And a couple of minutes later, comes my pan with American Style fried eggs YUMMMM
But no hash browns yet ๐ฆ Well, we started eating anyways… the food was good – very homestyle-like – very yummy and flavorful! I loved it… the service on the other hand wasn’t bad, wasn’t rude… but was so damn slow!
11:30… and here it is, my hash browns and maple syrup for Noon’s pancakes.
At 11:45 we were done, and asked for the check… ย but at around noon, we gave up and went to the cashier ourselves to pay… mixed up order but it got cleared up… KNet was down, so Noon had cash on her, she paid.. all of which was around KD4.700… Not bad at all.
What I like?
The food, the atmosphere, the location, the kitchen with glass wall/window that overlooked the restaurant… the option of patio (when its not hot and sunny) the all day breakfast from 6:00am to 5:00pm. The food was good, yummy, something your mom would prepare for you. Presentation was simple and appetizing! I also liked their prices ๐
What I didnt like?
The very very VERY slow service, but they are new… and thank God I was in a good mood! People were leaving, some even “stormed” out. But come on… its a new restaurant and they will get there. Staff were not communicating well together, some messed up bills and mix ups… but again, they’re newly opened… oh and since the kitchen was VERY visible, whats up with the curly hair chef? No net? No chef hat?? Whats up with that?
Will I give it another try?
Of course I will ๐ I have faith in this place. I am sure they will pull off really well with time.
Did you try it? Whadya think? Did you face any problems?

I like the idea of all day breakfast… but they seem to be having problems when its crowded. They changed the opening time from 5:00am to 6:00am the last time I checked.
Dear Ansam
I didnโt rely try it, however my experience with them is v.v. bad
They are not new they changed their name from different one; it was there with the same staff but new name and menu. They announce them from Jan 2010; however they didnโt open until end of May.
Last week (Friday) at 5:05 am me and cousin went to try it, we called them and they told us that the chef will not come before 1 and half to two hours. So we decided to go to another place.
Iโm looking forward to try it, but every time seems a problem to show up ๏ but maybe I will try it one day ๏
I am not sure if its the same as D-Cafe. I used to like D-Cafe back in the days but then it turned ugly, so I am glad they changed it to Ryoog now.
I wanna go again, but not anytime soon…

you are really into restaurants, I think when I come back to kuwait I’ll need you. :p
yes I am ๐ Sure thing… use and abuse my blog hehehe
I guess I’ll wait until they finish with their mess .. I know it’s a newly opened restaurant but they have to be careful .. First impression is crucial to success and failure .. they have to get their act together or else :p
Things happen… you know ๐ I wanna go again, but not anytime soon
