So I got the chance to try Wagamama – Kuwait last Sunday, which coincided with my friend’s birthday! I am going to make this post short and to the point

The staff were very welcoming and very friendly too… they were a bit slow, I mean they wrote the orders on our mats, yet they’d come to the table and ask who ordered what dish, or place the wrong order in front of the wrong person! But overall.. their smiles covered for all that! We experienced a tiny problem… my friend’s sister got a cake to surprise her sister (the birthday girl). She got her favorite cake from Opera. Well the problem we had, hmmmm!Well I will just tell you about it towards the end of this post

The food was AMAZING! I had the raw juice and ginger chicken udon. I also tried some of my lil sister Beef Ramen. I don’t want to go on and say that London’s Wagamama is better or yummier… The one here is just fine, and the food was so fresh and yummy! So sit back and enjoy the pictures

Now lets talk about what I didnt like! FIRST mistake was placing the huge brown Opera bag on the counter, which was VERY visible to the birthday girl, who by the way noticed it…

SECOND mistake was when we asked one of the waitresses (I think she was their manager or something) to get the cake, but our waiter ruined it. He came by and asked if we wanted desserts, we told him that we already talked to the lady in black… he insisted to know, and I mean INSISTED. So I took a pen out and wrote on my mat, “The cake on the counter” and whispered to him that we want to surprise my friend so he can leave, and then I have no idea why he said out loud “SO CAKE ANYONE?” I tried to shush him, then her sister asked him to go see what the other waitress/manager have… till the birthday girl told him: “You know what? That brown Opera bag has my surprise birthday cake… just bring it”

Now we were there around 7:00PM and since they are not taking reservation, I urge you to go around the same time, otherwise it will be crowded. As for price, each paid around KD7.000.

While walking around 360 Mall, I passed by BCBG just to find that the store is closed by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry due to licencing issues!

Too bad because I really wanted to see if they have the tiered ruffle skirt and the tabatha wide leg trouser I saw online the other day!

Fanny packs!! Are they in style or out of it? Fashion-wise of course

So I made it to al Balad restaurant Actually, my very pregnant sister got invitations and she handed them to me… so I went with the family to al Balad restaurant last Saturday for lunch.

I cant really say if its as good as the one in Lebanon because I have never been to Lebanon to try that restaurant, but the food I tried was good… I am going again for sure!

We started of with the bread basket and small bowl of olives. I was disappointed that the bread they served wasn’t fresh out of the oven!

For appetizers we ordered hummus, tabbouleh, chicken liver, fatta, patata harra (hot potato), and kibbeh. The hummus was so good!

Tabbouleh was also good, now I wish I ordered fattouch salad as well!

We ordered chicken liver, and the waiter recommended we get the one with pomegranate mossales…. not a bad idea at all! It was all gone so fast. My nephew tried chicken liver for the first time and fell in love with it instantly

Not a big fan of eggplants, but with the right mixture and accompanied ingredients I do! This fatta was really good! My sister loved it so much… I personally LOVED the yogurt and the seasonings… I also used the yogurt in it as a dip for the patata harra dish (coming up next, after this picture)

Patata Harra was recommended by FAH-Buzberry, and please let me thank you for this recommendation! I do not tolerate spicy food at most times… but the spiciness in this dish was just about right! The yogurt dip I used from the fatta dish subsided the spiciness… and at that point, I also tried the potatoes with mossales as a dip from the chicken liver dish – recommended by my sister and nephew!

Now their kibbeh is one of those that pops out some kind of oily sauce! I forgot the name. The first time I tried one of those kibbeh was a homemade one from my sister’s Armenian friend’s mom! It was good, and at least I was expecting it. This time at al Balad, I took a bite and SPLAT! Whoa! What was that! Not that it was bad or anything, but I just wish it was regular kibbeh! Now that I know… and you know, be prepared! Despite the liquid-y content, its really good and goes well with hummus as a dip! (Yes I do like to mix and match if you haven’t noticed that already)

As for our main dishes…. they were all really good! I opted for Ouzi and now I am hooked! I love that dish, and my friend’s mom make a really good one but I cant ask her to do it for me all the time, but now I know where to go when I crave one.

And here are some other dishes on the table… Lahm bel Ajean was recommended by many! This one got an interesting taste because it is flavored with dibs erremmaan (pomegranate mossales)! HIGHLY recommended

and thats cheese and garlic pizza-like dish for my nephew who loved it very much! I didnt get to try it though

and Kafta bel laban that I really wanted to try but was so full My sister said it was so good!

and this dish was brought to us by our waiter… we didnt order it, but we didnt mind it at all! Its called laflofat kafta and it consists of meat rolled in a bread with an orange dip (I wish I asked what it was).

For dessert we ordered fruit salad and chocolate sundae!

Did I mention that the restaurant is located on the top of the building… and it rotates. It takes around 3 hours to make a full round so I took some pictures of different views… too bad the windows weren’t clean, but it was really nice

As I said… I didnt try the one in Lebanon so I cant compare the two, but I can tell you that the food is really good, the staff are so friendly and smiley.. manager included! So drop by and check the place out when you crave Lebanese food next time… the restaurant is located in Sharq Tower on Ahmed AlJaber street. They’re open for breakfast from 7:00am – 11:00am, then for lunch from 12:00pm – 4:00pm, and finally for dinner from 7:00pm – 11:00pm, and their Tel # is 2249-2111!

Interesting fact: It takes three hours for the restaurant to make one full rotation!

I have been using Shiseido for years, and recently switched to Kiehl’s. Both comapanies’ products are awesome… but if you look further, you will find more of the “less expensive” OTC products that are as good and as effective.

Due to the nature of our lifestyles, where we require lots of washing and ablution, I have decided to try something less expensive for “more than once per day” consumption… and NIVEA Aqua Sensation did it for me! It really gives a fresh and radiant feel plus long lasting hydration!

While browsing through the Baking Tray photo album on facebook, I saw a picture of the sandwich I ordered from them few days back (read more).

Its called the Garlic Chicken Avocado sandwich. Since I ordered mine without tomatoes, you wont find any “red” in mine… but really! I love the reality look so much!
