Baby Receptions!

July 6, 2009 · 18 Comments

How far would you go (or reach) for a baby reception… in Kuwait!?

I have been to way too many baby reception in Kuwait… I have seen the good, bad, and the ugly! I got so many baby favors and souvenirs… Armani and Gucci chocolates, Chopard mini plates, photo frames, art pieces, candles… YOU NAME IT! I have always wondered how much do they spend on a baby reception that is usually a day or two!? Is it worth it? I heard bedding and accessories prices are minimum KD300… and the price escalates up to over KD2,000.. if not more! And that is of course not counting the favors and souvenirs!

I ask myself… WHY!? Is it worth it? How much is too much! Afterall its all “for show”! Right?

I dont believe I am stingy! I just think it is ridiculous! To begin with… when a mother gives birth, its her time to bond with the baby and be alone with her family, close friends, and loved ones. Entertaining guest comes in later… maybe after a month of giving birth where she can have a reception at home and be able to dress up and move around easily!

This post came in after I have received an email of various baby reception pictures, which I am going to share with you….

ok I like the White and Black one bas I would rather do it myself and be innovative with the styling as well as the cost ;) orrrr ditch the reception thing and let my husband buy me a fat diamond ring!

I remember my friend’s baby reception… she went into so much trouble planning o preparing for it… nealry half her pregnancy term…

Then i thought exactly to my self: why?!

Can’t honestly see why people would want to celebrate a 18 prison sentence ….

    lol @ KTDP

it’s true some people do go overboard, but i still think it’s a joyous event that should be celebrated, i only wish it could be a closed-family thing, not the whole world to come see the poor mama straight out of labor

I wasn’t planning on having a reception when I was pregnant with Ahmedi, but my mom and ‘7alti pushed me into it, and if I do something I either do it properly or I don’t do it at all! It was such a hassel and exhausting. I had a couple of days rest and I only received during the afternoon for two days only. Still, I had complications after that and ended in Maternity Hospital ICU for 5 days and 20 days recovery after severe hamorage! and didn’t see my baby until three months later because I was too weak to take care of him.
I am one against baby receptions! It is useless and exhuasting not to mention the amount of money spent to please people who will critisize in the end!!! Ma ya3jobhom el 3ajab! wala el 9eyam fee rajab!

Yeah thats what I mean… a new mommy should take it easy on herself and bond with the baby rather than pleasing hard to please people hehehe

I prefer Baby showers…..the soon to be a mother and her girl friends enjoy the night, laugh and play games…Plus her friends will organize it for her…who wants a pregenat crazy lady hosting something?

I hate what we do in Kuwait!
